Last Tuesday, February 17th 2009 Ms. Sumaryani asked my friends and I to go to SMA 1 BANJARBARU to watch a debate competition, after 8B class from our school finished. We went to SMA 1 BANJARBARU by foot, because the school is not far from our school. We went to SMA 1 BANJARBARU at 10.35 am. After we arrived there, we watched many students from playgroup joined the drawing and coloring competition and also a basketball competition in the evening. Then we went upstairs to the waiting room there. There, student of 8B class from our school were still waiting to get their turn to watched the debate. While waiting our turn, I played with my friends to lose our boredom. After 45 minutes waited in front of the waiting room, finally the committee permitted us to enter the waiting room.
In the room, the committee gave us some snack and mineral water. I saw many participant of debate competition. The teacher from each school gave their students some direction. There also 3 participants of debate competition from Kandangan. Kandangan is so far from Banjarbaru. We waited in waiting room for a long……time, because only 10 people could enter the debate competition room. I was very tired and bored. Then I played again with my friends, but we must not be noisy. Because it could disturb the participant of debate competition there. We waited there about 2 hours, next the committee moved us to other class. We waited there with 8B class, because there were still many students from 8B class not get their turn yet. We were very disappointed, because we waited for a long time. A few minutes later, Ifit and Mahdi went out of the class and they made many jokes, like becoming MC in INSERT program in Trans TV, becoming Miss World, surrender appreciation for the best hair in 2009, etc. Next, we laughed together and felt happy.
At 01.00 pm was the turn for 8B class whose absent number was 11 until 20. Because we waited for a long time, we felt hungry and thirsty. Finally, my friends invited me to buy PopMie , other snacks and mineral water , beside the basketball field in.Then I agree with their idea. After we ate the PopMie, we took a rest again. We had downstairs, we were very tired. Next, we slept on the floor for a few minutes because there were some carpets already prepared by committee. After we waited for 3 hours there, the committee of debate competition asked us whose have absent number was 1 until 10 to watch debate competition room. After getting there, we waited again in front of the debate competition room, because 8B class whose absent number was 20 until 32 still in debate competition room. We waited again about 25 minutes before finally came our turn to enter the room.
Next, the committee invited us to enter the room. Then, the committee asked us to wait again about 30 minutes, because the participant of debate competition must prepare the case building before we entered to the debate competition room. Can you imagine how tired we were there ???.
I remember that I did not pray dzuhur yet, so I invited my friends to go to the mosque there. After that, we came back into debate competition room. A few minutes later, the debate competition began. First the MC introduced the team from AFFIRMATIFE TEAM and CONTRA TEAM. Then, she read the motion. The motion was,”The strong Leadership is the key to national development“
AFFIRMATIFE TEAM was from SMA 3 BANJARMASIN and CONTRA TEAM was from SMA 1 MARTAPURA.

In my opinion, the 1st speaker from AFFIRMATIFE TEAM had little arguments and I could not hear clearly what she said. The 2nd speaker was very good and she said clearly but she was emotional. The 3rd speaker, he got many stucks and I think he was very nervous and he spoke slowly also the pronounciation was not cleare.
Next, in my opinion CONTRA TEAM was a strong team, because they did teamwork. They said their disagreement about the motion because, Hitler could fall down because he did not do a teamwork. From the 1st speaker she said fluently. The second speaker said fluently and did not get any stuck and also his arguments was logical but he spoke faster, I like his arguments. The 3rd speaker said something in very low intonation and a little argument.
After the debate competition finished, the jury counted their scores. Then, they gave it to the MC. Then the MC announced the winner. She said,”The winner is…..from SMA 1 MARTAPURA !!!!”. After that the spectator gave them big applause and the winner is very happy. Finally the debate competition finished. Then I went home.
